MED defeated MID in 7 games. Congratulations to Cary and good luck moving forward in the playoffs. I wish I had some dramatic story to tell from the series, but it was just consistent pitching that won it . . . MID led 3-2 going into the final two games but the MED bullpen shut down the MID hitting, with relievers Koji Uehara, Joe Nathan and Caleb Thielbar (grades 24, 23, and 19) throwing 29 innings in the series (42 percent of all IP for MED.) It's just too tough to beat that. MID's speedsters were also held in check, getting thrown out 60 percent of the time in the series and connecting on only one hit-and-run in seven games.
The Meddybemps pitchers held Joey Votto to an .078 batting average in the series with just one walk in seven games.
